Homemade Fuzzy's Tacos

Credit: here
I love Fuzzy's. The first time I went and got the shrimp tacos, I couldn't get enough of them. What I didn't love was $2 price tag on each of these tiny things, which is pretty much why I could never get enough of them to get full. My family was craving some Fuzzy's, and it occurred to me that we can probably just make them at home. I was right! For less than the price to feed two people at the restaurant, we were able to feed five and have leftovers! For generosity's sake, we made both chicken and shrimp tacos. We served this with some Mexican rice (A recipe I may share eventually, but for now I'll keep the secret), chips, and a creamy avocado lime dip. Read More for the recipe!

Yum! Served with tortilla chips and a creamy avocado dip

Fuzzy's style Chicken and Shrimp Tacos

For the Meat:
Chicken Breasts (about 1 breast per person depending on how much shrimp you want)

-1 T each of salt, paprika, chili powder, cumin, dry garlic and oregano. (you can add more to your tastes, I put a ton of cumin and garlic)
Medium cleaned and deveinedShrimp (3-4 pieces of shrimp per taco X however many tacos)
   - 2 large, minced garlic cloves
   - 3 T butter, melted

For the Magic Garlic Sauce:
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 T butter
1 cup mayonnaise
1/4 t pepper
1/4 t garlic power

Construction pieces:
Corn tortillas
Lettuce, chopped
Cilantro, chopped
Feta cheese
Tomatoes
Hot sauceCheddar cheese, shredded
Limes

Directions:
  1. To cook the chicken, boil in water along with the seasonings until no longer pink at the center.
    • After its finished, shred the chicken and place in frying pan. Season to taste with the same spices and a little bit of water, and cook until most of the water is evaporated out.
  2. To cook the shrimp, combine the garlic and butter in a small bowl, then brush onto the shrimp. At this point you have two options: skewer and grill until cooked, or throw them over some aluminum foil and broil.
  3. To make the garlic sauce (which is what absolutely MAKES their tacos), cook the garlic in butter in a frying pan. When the garlic is golden brown, remove from heat and add the mixture into the mayonnaise and season with pepper and garlic powder to taste.
  4. Warm the corn tortillas, either in the oven or a frying pan, and you're ready to put the tacos together!
      • Spread the garlic sauce on each tortilla
      • Add chicken, shrimp, or both
      • Add shredded cheese, lettuce, tomatoes, feta cheese, and cilantro
      • Finish them off with a squeeze of lime, and add hot sauce as desired
  5. Enjoy!
